They Took Her

Writer's picture: Ayushi PandeyAyushi Pandey

Since when they had their diapers on,

Since when they played on the emerald lawn,

Since when their voices were officially born,

Friendship greeted them, on that clear sunny morn.

Like two cute puppies frolicking around,

The frail, pudgy bodies played on the ground,

Tugging at their hair or pulling those cheeks,

They became so close, in just a few weeks.

Those cotton soft hands turned feminine and slender,

Their shrill bawling voice turned softer and tender,

The two female cherubs evolved with the days,

Into ladies, they entered a delicate phase.

Despite the glory and fame they received,

They were children at heart, as such they perceived,

Clubs, malls and amusement parks,

The flame of their friendship till now brightly sparked.

The sky looked pallid, devoid of lustre,

"I am soon going away," this news made her fluster,

To a faraway land, her buddy was deported,

On the storm-swept plain, she was now left distorted.

From here, her life was no longer fragrant,

They snatched her friend, oh, a sin so flagrant,

She sat on the blue toy train all alone,

Missing her daily, in longing she groaned.

In her tear-laden sleep, she wondered every night,

How they'd maltreat her, was she alright?

The two fresh roses that were watered with love,

Are now trampled upon, separated and shoved.

Today in the daily, on the front page she saw,

A familiar body, with gashes so raw,

Eyes shut, blood oozing, body in the box,

Her breaking soul, limbs trembling with shocks.

They took her, they broke her, her friend was gone,

She was lost and confused, the pain soon dawned,

A scalding tear rolled down her skin,

As she saw the two puppies in her coffin.
